Are you a perfect yogi?

You don’t get up and practice 30 minutes of yoga every morning. And sometimes you think bad things about people. Sometimes you even verbalise those bad things! And you can’t put your feet behind your head – hey, you can’t even bend down and touch your toes with straight legs.

You work too much, you don’t spend enough time with your family, you don’t exercise enough and you don’t eat enough vegetables. And you ate a whole packet of TimTams last night by yourself while crashed out on the couch with a glass of wine in one hand.

Clearly, you’re failing at this yoga thing… Or are you?

Do you accept yourself as you are? That’s really the crux of this whole “yoga thing”. So, stop beating yourself up and start appreciating all of the good things about you. (And please don’t beat yourself up about beating yourself up).

Here’s an article about the pressure to be a perfect yogi or yogini.

Let’s start the week with acceptance. When you start to beat yourself up for something you haven’t done, think of something good that you have done.

I’ll start:

This weekend, I haven’t managed to clean the bathroom but… I have had lovely cuddles with my little boy and had a picnic in our front garden.

This weekend, I haven’t managed to practice any yoga myself but… I have sat down and immersed myself in a book for the first time in six months.
